What Are Yokohama Fenders?

Yokohama fenders, also known as pneumatic rubber fenders, are floating, air-inflated marine bumpers designed to absorb shock and reduce collision forces during ship-to-ship and ship-to-quay berthing operations. Developed for large tankers, gas carriers, ferries, offshore platforms and more, these Yokohama marine fenders are durable, reusable, and easy to deploy.

  • Outer rubber skin – abrasion and weather resistant
  • Reinforced synthetic tyre-cord layer – ensures structural strength
  • Inner rubber layer – seals pressurized air (50kPa / 80kPa)

Key Features of OLIPORTS Yokohama Fenders

  • ISO 17357-1:2014 Compliant pneumatic rubber fender
  • Two versions of Initial internal pressure are available: 50kPa and 80kPa
  • Diameters from 500mm to 4500mm, lengths up to 12000mm

    • Hydro-Pneumatic Fender (for submarines)

Three Types of Yokohama Fenders For Sale

Chain Tyre Net Pneumatic Fenders

The most widely used Yokohama floating fenders, covered with tires and chains for extra abrasion protection. Ideal for large tankers and heavy-duty STS transfers.

Sling-Type Yokohama Pneumatic Fenders

No external tire net. Lightweight, cost-effective, and easy to deploy. Recommended for coastal and port vessels.

Ribbed Yokohama Pneumatic Fenders

With longitudinal ribs to improve performance and reduce slippage on contact surfaces.

Sizes range from 500(φ)×1000(L)mm to 4500(φ)×12000(L)mm, with custom dimensions. All OLIPORTS pneumatic marine fenders are supplied with: Flange fittings, Inflation valve, Safety valve, Pressure gauge, Chains and shackles (for CTN models). They are simple to inflate, deflate, and redeploy. Regular inspection of air pressure and valve sealing ensures maximum product life.

Installation for Yokohama Pneumatic Fenders

Hook-Type Mounting

For small and medium-size pneumatic fenders, hook-type installation is a simple and effective method. These fenders can be secured with mooring ropes or chains tied to bollards, cleats, or deck fittings.

Chain-Tyre-Net Mounting

Larger pneumatic fenders, such as 1500×3000mm and above, are typically equipped with a chain tyre net (CTN). The net structure distributes load and protects the rubber body from external abrasion. These fenders are usually secured with heavy-duty chain systems on both ends, attached to quay walls, dolphins, or vessel hull fittings.

Fender Groups Connection

In heavy-duty berthing zones, multiple Yokohama fenders may be interlinked using mooring lines or shackles to form a fender group, providing continuous protection along a berth or hull side.

OLIPORTS provides full technical support for proper fender layout, spacing, and chain length recommendations. Custom bracket or reaction panel designs are available upon request, especially for permanent fender installations.
