Product Overview
Speed lashes are used to tighten lashing chains for securing cargo. Initially, these devices were primarily employed on roll-on/roll-off vessels, but in recent years, their use has also increased significantly on ships transporting wind turbine blades. Speed lashes are particularly suitable for confined spaces where multiple lashing chains are tightly connected on deck. We offer a variety of long-chain lashing chains, end fittings, and tensioning devices.
Usage Guidelines
Accessory Connection: Clip the elephant foot end into the deck/vehicle anchor point; fasten one end of the 13mm lashing chain to the cargo lifting lug, and hang the other end into the speed lash’s chain slot.
Chain Pre-tensioning: Hold the lever handle and press down repeatedly (via the labor-saving lever structure) to gradually tighten the chain until it fits the cargo surface without slack.
Lock and Secure: Once the chain tension meets lashing requirements, flip the lever to the “Lock” position to ensure the tensioner’s teeth fully engage the chain and prevent loosening.
Final Inspection: Pull both ends of the chain to confirm secure locking; record the cargo lashing point number corresponding to this speed lash for subsequent inspection traceability.
